If you are fit, active and want to be a part of the 29th SEA Games this August in Kuala Lumpur, then send in your application to be a torchbearer in the Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) Torch Run.
The run that goes by the theme ‘Rising Together’ will traverse the country from the 14 May 2017 in Johor and end in Kuala Lumpur on 12 August 2017. So, you can be from anywhere in the peninsula to join in the fun. The Torch Run will travel through selected iconic places across the country, making the run unique as this has never been done before in the history of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.
Torchbearers from each state will take turns to carry the torch for an average of 200 meters within 5 kilometres distance to travel across selected district until they reach the border of the next state, handing the torch to continue the run. The highlight of the run is when the torch is brought into the Bukit Jalil National Stadium to light up the Games cauldron at the opening ceremony of KL2017 on 19 August 2017. The fire will remain lit until the closing ceremony, when it will then be put out to mark the end of the Games.
Torchbearers will be selected among national athletes, public figures, local leaders as well as the public who have met the general criteria.
