Most women eat and drink about 20 teaspoons of
added sugar a day—that’s more than three times the
recommended limit. Not only can that pack on the kilos,
but a new study from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia,
reveals it can take a toll on your ticker too. Researchers
found that women with the highest intake of the sweet
stuff have lower HDL, or ‘good’ cholesterol and higher
triglyceride levels than those who eat less. To save your
heart, stick with natural sources of sugar, like fruit, and
aim for no more than 6 teaspoons of added sugar daily.
