• How To Beat Breakouts In The Heat

Sweltering temps cause oil production to spike, says Tina Alster, M.D., a dermatologist in Washington, DC. Combine that with a snug sports bra or bike helmet, and more time spent getting sweaty and grimy, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for clogged pores and zits. To keep skin clear, exfoliate three times a week with a mild scrub or a cleanser that contains glycolic or salicylic acid.

Another good habit: every time you guzzle water during a workout, splash some pimple-prone spots like your forehead, back and chest to help dilute the sweat. And as tempting as it can be, never skip facial moisturiser. “The sodium in sweat dries out your skin and that can trigger more breakouts,” says Ellen Marmur, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City. Instead, use a light, non-comedogenic formula.
