    How has fitness helped you? “Mentally, it has helped me cope with issues. I used to struggle with my weight due to a dysfunctional thyroid but now fitness has given me a clean bill of health. I am more positive and have less anger. I was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was in varsity and had to take prescription drugs, which made me gain more weight. I hated myself and used to turn to binge eating and impulsive shopping to comfort myself but fitness has changed all that. My priorities in life have also changed and I am a much calmer person these days.”

    What is your favourite exercise? “The deadlift! It is the easiest and best overall body workout to form a stronger physique. It literally works the entire body and various muscle groups from ust a single exercise! Since I love running, I also do a lot of leg workouts such as squats. Core workouts help tremendously, too. I don’t really have a specific body part I work on as I do not believe in spot reduction hence the preference for compound workouts, which target large muscle groups.”
